The Ethiopians, equipped with their loyal lions, found success in the wars of colonization against them. As a result, they remain the only nation that has never been colonized.

Significantly, at the Battle of Adowa, Ethiopian warriors skilled in fighting with sword called Shotels decimated their Italian opponents in close-quarters combat.

The Ethiopian forces had controls of wild animals like lions, elephants and cheetahs which contributed immensely to their forces.

These animals were trained to capture the soldiers of the enemy, and played significant roles in enabling them secure victory.
