Lagos State government, yesterday, pledged to rid co-operative societies of fraudulent activities through training and retraining of its members.

Provost of Lagos State Co-operative College (LASCOCO), Mr. Akorede Ojomu, stated this at a news briefing to herald the maiden convocation and graduation of 104 professional diploma students.

He further said that the college was also putting mechanism in place to promote better transparency among co-operative societies in the state.

According to him, “these efforts are geared towards ensuring efficiency, though co-operative societies have been better managed than many indigenous companies, reason some of the co-operative societies are more than 60 years old.
