Nnamdi Kanu Drags Reno Omokri To Court, Demands N60 Billion |
He has done this at the Enugu State High Court, saying that Omokri spread harmful and damaging statements about him.
In the legal notice, Kanu is asking for N50 billion as compensation for harm to his reputation, emotional pain, and for affecting ongoing court cases.
He is also asking for an extra N10 billion as aggravated damages, because he says Omokri published false and dangerous information on purpose.
The case also wants Omokri to fully correct the untrue statements he made in two major newspapers and on his Twitter/X account within seven days after the court's decision.
He must also give a public apology in the same places and admit that he misrepresented the facts.
The case also asks the court to stop Omokri and his related people from spreading more harmful content without a good reason.
Kanu is also asking for legal costs, including his lawyers' fees, and interest on any money won, which would be 10% per year from the time the court makes a decision until the money is fully paid.
Aloy Ejimakor, Kanu's special legal representative, said on X that this legal action is a strong response to the publications.
He said, "Yesterday, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu began a strong legal action against RENO OMOKRI, asking for a retraction, apology, and compensation because of the very harmful and damaging statements he made against Mazi Kanu, IPOB, and the #Ndigbo. Others like Omokri should take note and follow this example. "
