*HEALTHIER YOUTH, STRONGER IMO: COMMISSIONER MANDELA INVITES IMO YOUTH TO FITNESS WALK FOR HOPE*
As part of activities to commemorate the 2026 International Youth Day, Dr. Emeka Mandela, Honourable Commissioner for Youth Development and Talent Hunt, Imo State, invites all Imo youths to participate in the Imo Youth Fitness Walk for Hope.
Commissioner Mandela (Nwa Eji Aga Mba 1 of Ndi-Igbo) said the initiative reflects the Ministry's commitment to engaging young people through health, unity, and purpose-driven activities that build a stronger and more active youth population.
The walk is themed "International Youth Day Fitness Walk for Hope." It is designed to promote unity, cohesion, and resilience among Imo youths. It will also celebrate the remarkable contributions of young people to the social, economic, and cultural advancement of the state.
The walk is scheduled for *Wednesday, August 12, 2026. Assembly time is 6:30 AM at the Government House Gate, with walk-off at 7:00 AM.* The route will proceed to the Youth Center, beside Concord Hotel. To encourage early participation, free power banks will be presented to early birds.
Speaking on the significance of the exercise, Dr. Mandela commended the Pan-Nigerian Youth Governor and Youth-Friendly Governor, His Excellency Dist. Sen. Hope Uzodimma, CON, for creating an enabling environment for youth development. He added that the 3R Administration has continued to receive widespread support and commendation from youths across the state for its pro-youth policies and investments.
The Ministry's message for the celebration is clear: *"Let's stay fit, stay strong, and stay healthy."* This underscores the Ministry's resolve to celebrate Imo youths whose energy, creativity, talent, and commitment to healthy living are key to building a thriving and productive youth population in the state.
